A 1968 block home gets a true zero-inch shower
Fifty-six years of the same 60 x 32 in alcove tub, and a homeowner who had stopped using it after a near-fall. The slab had to come up before anything else could happen.

The room, either side of the work
- Steel alcove tub with a 16 in rim, no bars, single-handle valve with no temperature stop.
- 4 x 4 in glazed floor tile measuring around 0.31 wet, laid directly on slab in 1968.
- One ceiling light giving roughly 18 footcandles at the tub.
- 28 in door swinging inward against the toilet.
- Curbless shower, 36 x 60 in, entry flush with the bathroom floor.
- 48 in linear trough against the back wall, whole pan falling 1/4 in per foot in one direction.
- 2 in unglazed porcelain mosaic at DCOF 0.62 in the pan, 12 x 24 in textured plank at 0.51 outside it.
- 24 in vertical bar at the opening, 18 in horizontal on the control wall, folding seat at 18 in.
- Thermostatic valve stopped at 120 F, controls at 44 in on the entry wall.
- Four wet-rated downlights at 3000K giving 62 footcandles measured at the pan.
